Infusing Vodka is Out? by Robert on Jun 12, 2009 at 1:06 pm

Chow.com says infused vodka is out of style. This comes on the heels of the Wall Street Journal calling vodka out of style followed by NYTimes.com echoing a similar sentiment (we'll be covering that topic soon).

I've never been a big drinker of infused vodkas, but I was looking forward to infusing my own vodka this summer. Infusion adds a different spin on an already great beverage, and it's always nice to add a bit more natural flavor to a cocktail. Is it out of style, though? I'm not qualified to say yes or no, but I certainly won't refrain from drinking it if I'm in the mood.

It could be just in time, though, if you ask Andy Richter (from Conan O'Brien's show). Video of his Bakon vodka taste test is below thanks to Hulu.

I love the "Grey Goose" add that shows up as an overlay to the video.

I think this actually made me want to try it more. Maybe I can get them to have a tasting at a local bar.

What is this "Grey Goose" you speak of? Maybe they will come to my town, too!

I didn't get a Goose ad, but I guess it's good marketing to show it while another vodka gets ripped on.

Considering the popularity of the pineapple infused Tito's I made with my friends and family at my graduation party I sure wouldn't say infused vodkas are out of style. If they are, then screw style :D

No problem, I'm actually thinking I need to go get a pineapple and make more, I have two big jars so I'm trying to decide what else to try, apple maybe.

Never liked the infused stuff, I like it straight, OJ, V8, dirty Martini, and if other flavors needed to be added, real on the spot fruits or citrus can be added, but NEVER by it in the bottle, just not a fan.

Infusing your own is just the right thing to do! It's easy and keeps the purity of the vodka without ARTIFICIAL $%^&! Vodkas on the market today have lost their purity and their care for the craft in making the vodka.

@disneychc4 have you infused your own? I really meant to try some stuff over the summer, but it kept getting put off until we could find an infusion jar. My wife suggested to me the other day that we use our old 360 bottles, since they have the resealable swing tops, to infuse in.
