Good Vodka Mixers
I don't like to mix vodka, but it's best to leave the shot glass at home when drinking at social gatherings. Luckily, I have quite a few friends who like to mix to help me along by suggesting good mixers to go with my vodka. In the spirit of VodkaBuzz, I'm going to compile a list of non-pretentious mixers that work well with vodka.
Current Favorites
For the best bang for the buck, try White Grape Pomegranate juice for a good mixer with vodka. For the best quality vodka mixer, get orange juice and Red Bull for the orange julius flavor.
Vodka And A Mixer
- Orange Juice is a tried-and-true vodka mixer. Don't get the cheap stuff. Simply Orange Juice makes a great screwdriver. I prefer high pulp, but that's up to you.
- White Grape Pomegranate juice masks vodka particularly well. Welch's sells it if you can find it. It's easy to drink even a half-juice-half-vodka mixture of this.
- Red Bull is the staple of the younger club crowd. This is what I drink in bars because it's easy to swallow, has caffeine to perk me up, and tastes consistent wherever I go.
- Sugar Free Rockstar is my energy drink vodka mixer of choice when I'm at home. It comes in 16 ounce cans and is cheaper than Red Bull.
- Mountain Dew takes some getting used to. The "Dewdriver" is a little bitter at first, but I always end up craving another.
- Sprite has a nice taste that makes it a good mixer with vodka.
Vodka And Multiple Mixers
- Orange Juice and Red Bull taste like an orange julius. Add vodka to a glass, then fill 90% with orange juice, and 10% Red Bull. This is probably the best vodka mixed drink I've tasted.
- Orange Juice with a splash of Cranberry makes a Madras. The cranberry changes the character of the drink in a nice way.
- Peach Schnapps and Orange Juice with vodka, otherwise known as a hairy navel, is a sweet drink that's good to sip on.
- Apple Pucker with an apple flavored vodka and some sweet and sour mix is all you need for an Appletini. These super-sweet drinks are great for small parties.
