I have a large 30" tall bottle of Vox vodka which has graced my bar for about 8 years. Finally we decide it was time to partake. When I opened the sealed cork top the vodka smelled like sulfuric acid or developer fluid. When mixed with cream, the cream instantly curdled. Thank God, no one drank any of it.
Does anyone know what has happened to it. Obviously it has gone through some type of chemical reaction. It has never been exposed to direct sunlight, It has always been in climate controlled environments and until now has never been opened.
I still have the rest of the acid and would be willing to send it to Vox if they need to analyze it. I suspect they have had other experiences. This annot be the only event like this. Someone please let me know what has happened.
What a waste of taste!
