    Very interesting perspective, Dmitriy.

It is too bad that I can get the best Single Malt Scotch in the world right here in the U.S, but not the best vodka. Would the same thing be true for Polish Vodkas when it comes to distributing their finest?

I completely agree with your tasting notes. Russian Standard Vodka (original) is a very clean vodka. Perfect for martinis. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to my next martini with it. Also, this vodka is very transparent - perfect for mixers. I haven't tried the others; Imperia and Platinum. I can't imagine them being worth the extra cost. Also, I agree with Ben...there doesn't seem to be as much pepper to this one as some of the others in the same price range. I just can't see paying good money for a 750ml of either Stoli or Russian Standard. Get the 1.75 Liter for $25.00 and enjoy it a while.

Good, not great. I know that Vikingfjord is relatively affordable, but there are better ones for less money. As a martini drinker, Vikingfjord doesn't go down as smooth as I'd like. It's probably no better than the Ruskova that I pay $14-$15 for a 1.75 liter bottle.

Plastic like. That's the best way I know how to describe Absolut Vodka. There are so many better ones for less money:
Ruskova, Svedka to name a couple:

    My take on Svedka: http://productreviewratings.com/2010/05/svedka-vodka-review/

I like Svedka, but I think Russian made, Ruskova is better for less money. Ruskova is a very smooth vodka for the price. Both Svedka and Ruskova are pretty clean, but the edge goes to Ruskova for over all smoothness.

I hope to see a review of this, here, soon:

This is a very good vodka and anyone who tells you otherwise has not acquired the taste for it. If you're expecting a flavorless white liquid, then Pearl is going to take some getting used to. But, if you want a smooth vodka with character and complexity, Pearl is going to be a delight. Pearl is a bit heavier than your typical vodka. It has some dark overtones, including butter, caramel and scotch...Yet it is very smooth. If you don't like this vodka, trust me - you haven't given it a fair test. I've had Svedka, Ruskova, Ketel One, Grey Goose, Smirnoff, Fris, Finlandia, Eristoff, Belvedere, Belvedere, Rokk, Vikingfjord, Sobieski, and I'm sure many many others I cannot remember...So far, I'd much rather drink Pearl than all of them. I buy vodka for martinis and I drink it straight up with two olives, clean with no olive juice. If you want to mix vodka with cranberry juice than buy Taaka or Sobieski - both of which are inferior to Pearl. I think Sam and I are in agreement on this. Pearl is a great vodka that is not only smooth but rich with flavor.

Many of us are in the same boat. We have to get used to an inferior liquor for our daily cocktail habits because we cannot afford the outrageous prices. Taaka is really not that better, but if you want something better that's nearly as cheap, I've got good news for you:
Ruskova Vodka is a genuine Russian vodka and an incredible compromise. Most liquor stores sell this for around $17.00 for a 1.75 Liter Bottle, but I've found it $4.00 Cheaper than that at the liquor store connected to my Costco store in Arvada. CO. Ruskova sells for $12.99 for the big 1.75 Liter. Not as cheap as Taaka, but significantly better.

Goodness, this really is an over-rated vodka. I discovered one called Russian Shot for less than half the price of the Belvedere and it was a better vodka! Smoother, creamier and well done. My own review on Belvedere very much reflects the opinions here.

I tried really, really hard to get excited about this based on your score, comments and it's attractive $18.99 1.75L price.
I have to be honest. This simply is not a great vodka. In fact, it's bite is harder than some of the bargain priced vodkas. The vodka definitely has some very good flavor and interesting, complex tastes, but the after bite lasts long after you're ready for the next sip.

I thought bitter at first too, until I drank an entire martini with Finlandia.

When you open your mind and realize it's not meant to be completely smooth, you will learn to appreciate the taste as spiciness. It is not bitter at all. "White pepper" is how I would describe it. It is a little more complex than most vodkas, but finishes off down your gullet very smoothly.
