Review
Platinum is made by Sazerac, makers of Rain and Taaka. Rain got a great review and Taaka got a bad review. It seems Platinum vodka is Sazerac's mid-range vodka (in their lineup of vodkas). I had a bottle left over from my wife's bachelorette party. I figured I should take advantage of the free vodka.
The Shot
Platinum has no real flavor, but leaving it in my mouth slowly starts to pull the moisture out of my mouth. Upon swallowing, it's immediately bitter and burns. A chaser is definitely required.
The Mixed Drink
I mixed Platinum at a 50% mixture with passion fruit juice. It mixed amazingly well after the shot. There was a slightly bitter flavor, but it mixed well with the juice.
Opinions
Platinum is definitely best as a mixer. Platinum fills out the mid-range of the three Sazerac vodkas I've tasted, but it barely falls into the lower middle shelf. It's a slightly better choice than Taaka, but falls far below Rain.

@Gene, It seems odd that they wouldn't make a liter size. I can only find any evidence of a 750 mL, though!

This vodka comes in an attractive cobalt blue bottle. The smell is that of rubbing alcohol and the taste is more than abrasive. I have performed a brief search online in an attempt to locate what grains are used for this vodka, to no avail.

I think the problemight be the process, not the ingredients. A lot vodka producers buy grain alcohol and "clean it up." I'm willing to bet they don't "clean it up" much. It is pretty bad, though. Much better vodkas are out there.

This vodka is made with corn according to the Sazerac website. I drink this brand on a regular basis. I mix it with either lemenade or juice. It's just as good or better than Svedka or Pinnacle in my alcohol induced opinion. I don't get hangovers from this vodka either. For the price, I recommend it to anyone. Nice website by the way!

Thanks, Dan. I think mixing this vodka is the best way to drink it. I prefer my vodka straight, though, so I've shied away from it.

Robert, thanks for you're timely reply to my review of Platinum 7x vodka. You know, when I can afford it, I like to cut a lemon in half and infuse it with a litre of. Ketel 1. Add a cube of sugar and I'm in Nirvana. I love Ketel 1!

I've been meaning to do some infusions for over a year. Maybe I'll get to it this year!

They clean is up a lot. 7X distilled. Low hangover potential, but sacrifices taste. Any mixing such as a few lemon twist kicks it into a higher class.

I've found Platinum to be quite a good vodka. Better than Smirnoff Triple distilled. To compare a pure shot to a mixed drink using passion fruit juice does not give any insight to real quality. Mixed as a martini with a few twists of lemon or olives makes this vodka compete with top shelf, virtually indistinguishable from its lofty brethren. The 7X distilled is the key. The more distilled the less the hangover potential, but a sacrifice on pure taste of its own. Drank pure no. Mixed at all...great quality and price!

I tried it on the rocks and it tastes like medicine It has a bitter taste and burns if you let it sit in your mouth. I paid 17.00 at flanigans in ft lauderdale,, and I think i'll stop the charge. What are you going to do about it???

Just got some Platinum, I am disapointed that it is not like the Rain I love, but now have to drive over half an hour to get...yes, I am saving up for gas money and meanwhile planning on mixing the Platinum with cranberry/orange/triple sec to enjoy the sun tomorrow!
