Review
As I mentioned before, the same folks that make Taaka also make Rain vodka. Learning this made me leery of the brew, but I decided to give this organic, supposedly small-batch vodka a shot. I had some trouble getting the plastic seal off of the bulbous cork top, but it was well worth it.
The Shot
Rain first comes across as sweet, which is surprising coming from a vodka in its price range. It's so far beyond Taaka, that I feel silly for even mentioning it. There is a bitterness in the aftertaste and a slight burn as it makes its way down to my stomach. I can't express my surprise enough. This is actually a good shooting vodka. I only barely crave a chaser.
The Mixed Drink
I opted for the tried-and-true Simply Orange High Pulp screw driver for this review. What makes this vodka a good shooter makes it a great mixer. The sweetness I tasted in the shot enhances the flavor of the orange juice. I've never had such a pleasant experience with a vodka in this price range.
Opinions
I mixed Erin's passion fruit with a little more vodka. When she drank it, she exclaimed, "Whoa! There's vodka in this!" After a short pause, she reflected in a thoughtful tone of voice, "but it's good." She was, overall, fond of Rain vodka. I did a shot with Daniel. He wasn't wild about it, commenting only on the burn. He got side tracked before he could say too much else. I think his ultimate opinion was that it was alright.
I think Rain vodka is good. I would expect to pay 40% more for a vodka that tastes this good. If you've never had Rain vodka, go pick up a bottle right now. If you've had Rain vodka before, you should probably go buy another bottle. Bring it to a party. For the price, you can afford to let your friends drink it with you.

This vodka was fun :) It's a good shooter, and passion fruit juice makes an excellent chaser, as well as a mixer.

I'm a Martini (Vodka) drinker genetically and by choice. I recently tried Rain and also poured one for "Ma Lady". Her comment: "Wow that's good". I couldn't have said it better. Smooth no bite. Rain is my new Vodka of choice, and I have tipped a few.

This is a pretty smooth vodka, as mentioned. But the main thing about this vodka that is AMAZING, is the fact that it's virtually impossible to get a hangover when you drink this stuff. It's 7 times distilled and completely organic. A lot of people don't realize how much of a difference this makes. There's virtually no impurities, and as such, you won't have that horrible hangover feeling with this. Highly recommended.

Very cool bottle with pretty good liquid inside of it. Lacks personality...perhaps 7 times distilled is TOO much?

What I enjoyed about this bottle is how versatile the product is. While it is a great shooter and sipper, its also a great mixer. Ciroc for me is only a good mixer, with the shot coming across very bitter and not very enjoyable. While the white corn in the Rain comes across as warming and smooth however when mixed it adds a bit of it's sweetness to whatever it is added to.
Unfortunately in the vodka market, the way to make money is how well a product can be mixed because let's face it, most people don't pour vodka into a glass and drink it room temp like we do! But they combined best of both words, a great sipping/martini vodka and a great mixing vodka.

This stuff is like a truth serum...seriously, so smooth it was easy to over imbibe, which I did. Mixed with grapefruit juice, it was wonderful, but left my friend and I with very little memory of the night's events. Let me put it this way, another friend emailed me and wanted to know where we got that organic vodka, because he wanted to make his wife a drink. Good times, lol!

I have heard a lot about this vodka. Almost a cult buzz about it. I have been drinking vodka for almost 40 years. I have tried many, many vodkas. I bought Rain yesterday and ran a "Pepsi" challenge today with Tito's, all three people were able to pick out the vodka that wasn't Tito's. Then I asked, well which is better? Everyone picked Tito's. All three people commented that for a vodka that was distilled seven times, something was added to Rain. Two people suggested sugar, one person suggested sugar and maybe glycerin. It definitely had a "flavor". Everyone agreed that vodka should be a very neutral spirit. Ultra distilled products should be the most neutral. Less distilled varieties may show some iron or minerality based on its water source..
