Identifying Features
The SV Supreme bottle is shaped like a futuristic rocket and has the flame-like SV logo emblazoned on the front.
Review
It's been awhile since I've had SV Supreme. It's hard to miss the rocket-shaped bottle on the shelf, though. At the request of a reader, I grabbed a bottle.
I ended up on the SV wikipedia page while searching for additional information on the vodka. While this is a Russian vodka, Wikipedia claims that SV was formulated to appeal to an American audience by attempting to remove the bitter notes from the vodka that are characteristic of Russian vodkas.
The Shot
SV Supreme is smooth and clean in the mouth. There's a slight tingle when I swallow, but not a burn. Leftover is a bitter aftertaste that after taste sticks around. A chaser not required, but is nice. SV Supreme is a good straight vodka.
The Mixed Drink
I mixed SV Supreme with Welch's White Grape Pomigranite juice. The slight bitters bring out a different flavor in the juice. The aftertaste is sweet and bitter, making for an interesting mixed drink. This is an enjoyable vodka to drink mixed.
Opinions
Erin mixed SV Supreme with White Grape Pomigranite, as well. She said she couldn't taste the vodka in the juice, but there was a slight ethanol burn and aftertaste.
Anna, my sister, happened to be in town with her boyfriend Joost. I talked them into trying a shot and a mixed drink. Anna thought her shot of SV Supreme tasted like water, noting that there was no burn, but mentioned the bitter aftertaste. Joost noted it had a comfortable burn, but said it was a good vodka. As for the mixed drink, Anna said that the juice was able to dominate the vodka in flavor, and made for a nice mixer. Joost felt that the vodka gave a good bite to the juice, which he enjoyed.
SV Supreme is a really good shooter and a great mixer if you're looking to add a different flare to your cocktail. Soyuz-Victan did a wonderful job of making a Russian vodka appealing to an American palate.

Me and my wife picked up a bottle of this stuff a few months ago. I thought the shot was very clean but hinted at a slight burn, she has a softer pallet and tasted more of the burn. Over all it was a great price for the quality, we picked it up for about 20 bucks for 750ml. Great Russian vodka... "Soyuz-Victan did a wonderful job of making a Russian vodka appealing to an American palate." That about sums it up right there!

Despite the easy drinking, SV is still Russian in spirit. I can definitely see that your wife would pick up the burn. In some cases, that can be bad. As you experienced, however, SV intentionally left some of that in. SV would make a good training vodka for folks that want to whet the palate for Russian vodkas.

I stumbled upon this vodka last year (2010) @ one of my local beverage stores. It was on sale for about 28.00. I tried it and really like the smoothness of it, I barely had a burn afterwards. I was a Belvedere/Greygoose girl but found SV to be by far a better vodka, to me! to my dismay, it is no longer available anywhere, I've tried local beverage stores and on line! If anyone knows where I might be able to get a few bottles, let me know! Thanks!

I don't recall seeing it recently, and the US website is down (svvodka.com). Kind of scary! I'd suggest contacting any friends you have in different states (or friends in a different city) and have them look for you. I know around Alabama with the ABC, vodkas can be pulled any time, and some vodkas are pulled from ABC retail locations but are still sold to plain-old liquor stores. It might be different where you are, especially if there is no ABC board to deal with. If you're in a state that permits shipping of alcoholic beverage, you can try looking at online liquor stores. I don't see it on BevMo.com, though.

Thanks a bunch Robert! I am actually in TX (Dallas) and have asked friends in NY, NC, without luck..apparently, but thanks for responding! Can you recommend a good smooth vodka? Quality over anything else for me..

I drink Tito's and Svedka regularly, and 360 occasionally when I can find it. The rest are based on memory. I haven't had SV in a really long time (apparently since 2009), so I can't really compare them all now. But, read those reviews, and maybe you'll like one.
