I’ve seen Burnett’s on the shelf and have always been afraid of it. I decided to give it a go.

The Shot

I can’t explain a flavor. It was slightly bitter, but the bitterness was manageable. It just felt bad in my mouth. I didn’t get the drying sensation much. The swallow didn’t burn, but the bitter flavors really came out at the end. Burnett’s isn’t a good shooter.

The Mixed Drink

I mixed Burnett’s Vodka with Passion Fruit juice. The bitter flavors came through enough to make the cocktail gross. I’ve had worse, but I wouldn’t recommend Burnett’s Vodka when there are better options for around the same price.

Opinions

Burnett’s doesn’t offer anything that the other bottom shelf vodkas can offer. Get Don Cossack instead.

I am going to have to differ with the bad reviews. I dont like cheap vodka but this vodka i cant tell the difference between the premiums and this one. We drink Vodka martinis and this is so smooth. No harsh taste. You cant beat the price either.

There’s no such thing as a “vodka martini”, anymore than you can make a “Chablis martini”…the Martini is a Gin & Vermouth cocktail, and NOTHING else.

Me wife and I did a vodka tasting. She did hers blind, I had to pour. We tasted 8 vodkas; Grey Goose, Belvedere, Smirnoff, Stoli, Pinnacle, Sky, Absolute and Burnett’s. We even ate oyster crackers between tastings to “cleanse the pallet”.
We didn’t tell each other the results until we were finished. However, we picked exactly the same winners and losers ! Being that I jumped on the Grey Goose bandwagon, I was very surprised at the results.
We truly disliked the Belvedere and the Grey Goose. Couldn’t believe it but is is true. The winner was Burnett’s !! It really was the smoothest. My second pick was Stoli. My wife didn’t have a second pick.
Just goes to show you not to buy into the hype !!!

I am 72 years old. I have drank every brand of vodka. I go to Applejack liquor Store in Colorado because they have such a great variety.
I walk in about 4-5 years ago and there is an old man, like 80+ with an apron on. He is an employee. I find out he is from the Ukraine. I ask him what is the best vodka for the money. With a thick Russian accent he tells me” Burnetts”. So I buy my first bottle and wow was I surprised. I prefer the Lime flavored and it is without reserve the best. better than Grey Goose,Belvedere, or Absolut and all the other fancy names.

Love Burnetts!! Best value by far. Im a big time vodka person and my household consumes at least 2 to 3 vodka bottles of various kinds and brands per week. That said, you be hard pressed to find anything as smooth with as good a price tag. Be adventurous and mix any of their many flavors with your favorite juice or flavored drink (teas, soda, koolaid, flavored water, almost anything). The plain is also not bad but I recommend the flavored varieties for a cheap night that doesn’t taste cheap. And FYI the no hangover stuff is also true, I never get one and none of my guests have ever complained about getting a hangover with Burnetts, unlike nameless other liquors and beers we’ve tried over the years. Cheers.

I just discovered Burnett’s and I love it….both for the taste (actually the lack there of) and the price. Dollar for dollar the best Vodka I’ve had. Chopin is my favorite and is slightly better ( but then I’m half Polish) but at 3 times the price I’ll drink Burnett’s, thank you very much! I often make pepper vodka by cracking a tablespoon of pepper corns and putting them into a 750L, letting it sit for about 5 days, then stain out the debris. It’s great in bloody marys and I sometimes add a splash to my over the rocks vodka.

I’m a Martini drinker and prefer the traditonal preparation using vodka over gin. Before I go any further, I will state that I had a very successful career in advertising. Many of my clients were in spirits, wine and beer. My creative team could design packaging and a media campaign that would make a roaring success of any product we positioned in the market. 99% of what people select as their vodka of choice is purely a result of good marketing. We focus group tested every campaign and product and every single time we manipulated the outcome because of the message within the image we created. People swear they can tell the difference in vodka, but for the most part that is simply not true. You can tell the taste difference in a few eastern European potato vodkas versus a grain distilled but for the most part that is a minor difference. I read reviews and its funny to see all of the taster’s notes of vanilla, a hint of leather, and other exotic flavors. Its generally made of grain in the US and most European countries. Filtration does make a difference in softness but grain is grain,. Some tasters would say this and that have a back burn. Yes, you are drinking grain alcohol and if you don’t sense a slight burn you are drinking a very watered down vodka. Burnetts is a clean and essentially tasteless spirit. Therefore perfect for mixing cocktails. If you are making a Martini, the flavor is essentially the taste of vermouth and lemon if you use a twist or a bit of the olive brine if thats your garnish. What I recommend, and I have made thousands of Martini’s at charity bars, is to select a good tasting vermouth. I prefer Noilly Prat extra dry, Martini and Rossi is also excellent. A well chilled shot of Burnett’s with a flavorfull 1/2 oz of vermouth will yield a Martini that any afficienado will enjoy. I could (and have) told my friends the Martini is made with their choice Grey Goose , Absolut, Belvedere or Chopin. And as expected they never detect the difference. Now I have nothing against well branded vodkas. They are great for the industry as a whole. I am guilty of doing precisely that, but I wouldn’t have done a job for client otherwise. I buy Burnetts at my local Trader Joes at $5.99 for 750 ml. I have Belvedere in my bar reserved for my wife. She just loves the bottle

Could blind test many straight vodka drinkers with 5 brands and bet each one of them would probably pick a different brand as their favorite, many of them being Burnetts. Forget about Grey Goose and all those snobby brands. If you enjoy a nice martini or two trust me Burnetts will work very well.

I don’t know what that guy is talking about who says it tastes bitter. It is actually almost flavorless, which is what vodka is supposed to be. Keep in mind that “vodka” also means “water” in Russian. There’s a reason for that. Anyway, Burnett’s is my standard brand because it has the best balance of taste (lack thereof) and price. It’s not as good as Tito’s (which is not only flavorless but nearly burn less), but at 1/3 the price, that’s OK. (Tito’s is so smooth that I can’t keep track of how much I’ve consumed, which is not necessarily a good thing.)

Burnett’s is an acquired taste. I enjoy it because I’ve had it so many times. As a college student, it’s appealing because of it’s low price and there are MANY flavors to choose (for the ladies to drink, of course). Shooting this vodka tends to burn, but I usually don’t have to chase. Mixing with Burnett’s isn’t too bad. Depending on the mixer, you may taste the slight bitterness of the vodka. Orange juice for sure masks the vodka. I give it a C for shooting and a B- when mixing.

May I introduce you to the concept of Summer Vodka? This is Burnetts, a great, cheap vodka for vodka tonics and other summer drinks where other flavors mask the vodka. While I’m at it, you’ll need Winter Vodka, for which Sobieski is an obvious budget choice for wintertime vodka martinis (or shooting). One further budgetary suggestion: have Sobieski for your first martini, and Burnetts afterward when tastes are a little dulled (or should I say buzzed?)

First things first, this Vodka is made in Kentucky. In America. They don’t need to raise prices because they don’t have to pay inport export taxes or tariffs.

Second it is a lower proof which means it’s toxicity is less. So yeah you can be generous.

They have over 30 flavors. They mean business.

It’s bottled my Sir Robert Burnette who goes my “Sir” anymore but someone classy af.

You peel off the labels and find there is a crest on the actual bottle which does take money to make bottles with raised glass like that.

Lastly being around $7-8 a bottle you can party all night for cheap.

There have also been numerous reports of smooth taste as well as limited hangover-ability.

Burnetts = American Dream (good quality product at a reasonable price made by Americans)

I saw something on Twitter just now that said “Burnett’s is like the Tim Tebow of Vodka. It sucks but somehow gets the job done.” This is true! I drink Burnett’s every time I drink though. It’s either this or wine coolers. I don’t think it tastes very good ONLY because ALL alcohol tastes TERRIBLE in my opinion. I’m sure there’s better but here in CO this is what is the cheapest and gets you completely messed up the fastest. It’s good for shots and good in mixed drinks. I had the blueberry one for a while because I didn’t like the way it tasted straight or w/ anything else. I usually get the strawberry for screwdrivers or the cherry and mix it w/ coke and it tastes EXACTLY like cherry coke. All in all, you get what you pay for. If you think this vodka tastes cheap or bitter, take a second look at the price. In my opinion it only sucks because all alcohol sucks and tastes like shit to me lol.

I have been purchasing your vodka for several years now and have found the Cherry Vodka to be the most exceptional Cherry flavored vodka on the market. Until…… In the last few months the flavor of the Cherry vodka took a HORRIBLE turn for the worse. At first I thought it was because I had a cold or something but it now just tastes B A D. That’s all I can say. Except for What Did you Do???? I used to have my friends do taste tests to see what they liked better between the modestly priced Burnett’s and the so called “better” vodka. They all have cherry flavored vodkas if you can find them. They’ll probably be more expensive, but they should be higher quality and hopefully consistently enjoyable. I don’t drink a lot of flavored vodka, though.

Its ok, not great, but passable. I dont recommend this one for shooting. Its rather bitter but lacks much of the bite of other vodka. The sour apple version is nice, but starts very bitter and only tastes like sour apple for a second before it goes back to bitter. But the sour apple flavor is nice while it lasts. It makes a good mixer for use with overly sweet juices that need a bit of mellowing.

Each evening I drink maybe two to four ounces of Burnetts vodka, or I did for years until recently. I have thought this is a vary good vodka and not too expensive. Over the last two years or more I began to develop some health problems. Vary sensitive digestion tract. Anything out of ordinary or greasy, or hot peppers seemed to cause diarrhea. My wife said it was just my age “62” , but I always felt it was caused by what I was eating or similar. I finally switched to a higher grade of vodka and after several years suffering with them all my problems instantly stopped. Also my knuckle and joint pains are gradually reducing, and greater flexibility returning. I feel younger and more energetic. I surmise the problem is caused by not adequately filtering out the fusel oils. Whatever the reason I cannot now recommend Burnetts Vodka to anyone. I suggest “spend a little more” and be healthy.

You will not notice a bitter after taste if the regular is mixed with orange juice or cranberry juice! Try the low calorie cranberry as opposed toy he regular as it tastes just as good with a lot less calories (particularly important if you are diabetic and need to keep the sugar and calories down) but don’t go to the diet cranberry which really reduces the calories and sugar but tastes terrible and is not worth the sacrifice! Five stars! Love the regular and peach and find them to be the best on the market for price, value and taste. I fond them to be equal to or better than Absolut and Finlandia and several small batch expensive vodkas I have tried as well as the Grey Goose! I am not as fond of the citrusy favors but love the regular in cranberry or OJ and recommend the low calorie cranberry as opposed to the regular which has a lot of sugar in it and the diet which has too little sugar and tastes terrible. The peach is great in OJ also! It’s a poor man’s Fuzzy Navel! Love diet dr pepper and am looking forward to tying cherry with diet dr pepper! My wife loves Absolut but I really can’t tell a noticeable difference so we keep our vodka bill down by her drinking the Absolut and me drinking the Burnett’s! I have to afmit that she has persuaded me that the Tangueray is better than the bargain Gordon’s Gin but I have not yet tried Burnett’s but have heard good things about it and am looking forward to trying it with a $5 coupon towards a 1.75 or two. The triple or quadruple filtering really makes a difference as there are no hangovers and the vodka tastes very smooth unlike some unfiltered rotgut vodka that was cheap in Las Vegas and tasted like gasoline and the only reason I bought that was because I could not find Burnett’s or any other reasonably priced vodka that was inexpensive and thought you could not get a bad bottle of vodka but had to be careful with gin! Boy was I wrong, as we also bought a cheap bottle of gin whose name I did not recognize and it turned out to be pretty good but the vodka was so bad and rough that you could not our enough orange juice into it to mask the flavor and while we finished the gin I ended up pouring most of the vodka down the drain to save my intestines, Be safe and frugal and get a great vodka at a great price with Burnett’s regular vodka and enjoy some of their 30 favors also!
