Friday Links: Crime, Punishment, and Vodka

This week’s Friday Links include a great punishment for social media faux pas, an odd thief, more flavored / infused vodkas, cleaning CDs with vodka, and vodka mouth spray for a short buzz.

Social Media Punishment

If you haven’t already heard the story about the most hilarious punishment for improper use of social media, here’s the short story. Writer ReShonda Tate Billingsley let her 12-year-old daughter sign up on Instagram. Her daughter subsequently posted a photo of herself with a vodka bottle and the caption “Wish I could drink this vodka.” Billingsley saw the photo and made her daughter post a photo of herself with a note saying:

Since I want to post photos of me holding liquor, I am obviously not ready for social media and will be taking a hiatus until I learn what I should and should not post. Bye-bye.

According to CNN, Billingsley’s daughter really learned her lesson when the photo went viral. Billingsly pointed out, “She saw how this picture has gone viral, but… now she sees that if it had been the picture of vodka that went viral, it could have ruined her life.”

If I ever meet ReShonda Tate Billingsley, I will give her a high five. I hope I’m that creative when it comes to my kids.

A Terrible Heist

A man in Chicago stole a bottle of vodka and Lunchables. The vodka was in his pocket and the Lunchable was in his pants. At least his priorities are straight. Well, except that it was coconut vodka.

More Weird Flavored Vodkas

Bite Club Eats posted a flavored vodkas list that starts off with Three Olive Loopy, a Fruit Loop flavored vodka. It’s mostly the same flavored vodka we thought was weird, but there are a few different ones. Apparently, there is also a cactus flavored vodka. Also, some crazy people made a Cheetos Vodka shot that appears to be terrible. They call it “infused” but I think sinking Cheetos in vodka is far from “infusing” vodka. It’s more like watching the guys from Jackass snort lines of wasabi. If you want an interesting infusion, check out this do-it-yourself honey-sesame infused vodka.

More Uncommon Uses for Vodka

The folks at Laptop Mag claim vodka can be used to fix a scratched CD. For more uncommon vodka uses, check out the ones we found.

Is This The Future?

Harvard professor David Edwards created an inhale-able vodka mouth spray called Wahh. Apparently a single spray is 1/1000th of a shot of vodka, but the mist tricks your body / brain into thinking there is a lot more. You get a head buzz for a few seconds, then it goes away. It’s not quite synthohol, but it’s a start. If you want more product info, check out the Wahh website.

That’s It! Have a Great Weekend!
