Used to be tops, went south real quick.
This vodka is distilled about 15 miles from my house on the north fork of long Island. When LIV started, I went out there did a tasting, and LOVED it. Bought a bunch. Went on to experience others, always knowing that LIV was the best that I would go back to. After 2 years< i went to hit it back up… and man did the quality go down BIG TIME since the original. It really just tastes bad. Dirty almost. it used to be so creamy and vanilla like… now its dirty socks. I don't get it……

Yes, this is accurate. I’m also from the area and really wanted to like this vodka – was good in the beginning but recent product is musty – not the clean taste and finish of a Ketel or Tito’s . This may be OK in a Bloody Mary or Screwdriver but does not wok well in a Martini.

I received this vodka as a gift. I made myself a cocktail and ended up dumping it down the drain. It literally tasted like dirty potatoes. Thinking maybe it was just me because I knew it was potato vodka I have since made several guests drinks with this vodka without telling them what it was and everyone has had the same reaction….dirty potatoes. Being born and raised on L.I. I really wanted to like this vodka.

I am a vodka rocks guy.
    Ketel One, very good.
    Belvidere, Chopin, great.
    LIV, Awesome!

Do a blind taste test with your friends. They will know they have just tasted something special.
As a purist of sorts, I am not a big fan of LIVs flavored sorbettas, but others seem to enjoy them.
As for me, LIV on the rocks with a habanero stuffed olive or a pepperoncini (I call it a zipper), and I’m a happy camper with a smile on my face.

OMG this vodka is horrible. It reeks of potatoes in both taste and smell. I was given a bottle as a gift and had to pour most of it down the drain because it was undrinkable. The issue here is that vodka is supposed to be odorless and tasteless. As long and the LIV people keep duping unsuspecting consumers in to thinking that potato vodka is supposed to taste like potatoes they will continue to charge a premium price for a subpar vodka. The only people that would choose to drink this vodka are people that don’t know anything about vodka.

Maybe I was too generous when I rated LIV in a vodka martini up with olives last November. The bartender put far too much vermouth in the cocktail to judge the vodka fairly. It is possible that the vermouth masked the heavy potato flavor that you noticed. Maybe I will take a chance and order it again if I see it on the menu, or maybe not?

Please be aware that this is a fraudulent post; I am not sure what his motives are, who he is affiliated with or why he spends time trying discredit a product he seems not to care for; perhaps a failing competitor. I have noticed the same exact postings about LiV Vodka around on other sites from same individual. He fails to point out that LiV has won a Double Gold in the NY International Spirits Competition, Gold in San Fransisco World Competition and a Double Gold and judged best Domestic Vodka in the top 50 competition. We are distributed in over 15 states and have over 2000 placements nationally, and continue to grow our presence through sheer fan loyalty. I am embarrassed for this sad individual and would any free thinking person to make there own mind up….

The vodka is made by people who really know what they are doing. Its really what you like. I know people who dislike $200.00 highly rated bottles of wine, but love a $ dollar bottle. It’s up to the individual. So you may not like it, others do . its up to the majority and the taste testers the professionals. Don’t forget its a hand crafted potato vodka, and I drink all types and have been serving in my business , this is excellent for me. So vodkas don’t have taste some really do, some use anise or other types or hint ingredients for distinction. Just like a beer. Look a Sam Adams. Winter , Summer , Fall brews different tastes etc. I think of killians totally different style , I have heard some conservative style beer drinkers dislike killians or a blue moon beer. Its all about individual taste. To sum it up , I love Liv, it has all the qualities of a good vodka , its clean tasting with a mild burn , its smooth and has a good after taste of vanilla as mentioned, if it is vanilla , i don’t know? but its inviting and pleasant for most. Believe me its one of the good ones by popular vote. Be well and enjoy

This person is obviously a troll, or just making a joke. “The issue here is that vodka is supposed to be odorless and tasteless.” This is blatant satire, but I feel like I need to point this out to people who are reading these reviews or looking at the average score and see this vodka get a lower score than it deserves.

To add to the conversation. If you are an American who drinks even moderately, you’ve probably never had a potato vodka, the traditional way of making vodka, unless you’ve sought it out specifically. Most vodkas available in the US are ‘white whiskey’ and are made with corn. Smirnoff, in the rest of the world, is a potato vodka, but in the US it’s made as a white whiskey, because that’s what US vodka drinkers are comfortable with. LIV make potato vodka, and they make a particularly good one. If you consider yourself an avid vodka drinker, you owe it to yourself to try this. It should appeal to people who like a peppery vodka, or people who like homemade moonshine, because I feel it shares that slight charcoal flavor.

When I serve it, People like it . I’m in Marketing and have many clients . We all have converted and now drink LIV. Absolute and the others have gone down in quality. They try to make up for it with Fancy packaging and colorful bottles. They should be in the business of or sell art prints at Walmart. Even in the past absolute does not taste or come close to the quality and taste of LIV.

Drink this vodka chilled with nothing in it , it is great on its own. If you add your own special twist , lime , orange juice whatever , you will also enjoy it. It’s an all around great vodka.
