Rain Vodka Review

As I mentioned before, the same folks that make Taaka also make Rain vodka. Learning this made me leery of the brew, but I decided to give this organic, supposedly small-batch vodka a shot. I had some trouble getting the plastic seal off of the bulbous cork top, but it was well worth it.

The Shot

Rain first comes across as sweet, which is surprising coming from a vodka in its price range. It’s so far beyond Taaka, that I feel silly for even mentioning it. There is a bitterness in the aftertaste and a slight burn as it makes its way down to my stomach. I can’t express my surprise enough. This is actually a good shooting vodka. I only barely crave a chaser.

The Mixed Drink

I opted for the tried-and-true Simply Orange High Pulp screw driver for this review. What makes this vodka a good shooter makes it a great mixer. The sweetness I tasted in the shot enhances the flavor of the orange juice. I’ve never had such a pleasant experience with a vodka in this price range.

Opinions

I mixed Erin’s passion fruit with a little more vodka. When she drank it, she exclaimed, “Whoa! There’s vodka in this!” After a short pause, she reflected in a thoughtful tone of voice, “but it’s good.” She was, overall, fond of Rain vodka. I did a shot with Daniel. He wasn’t wild about it, commenting only on the burn. He got side tracked before he could say too much else. I think his ultimate opinion was that it was alright.

I think Rain vodka is good. I would expect to pay 40% more for a vodka that tastes this good. If you’ve never had Rain vodka, go pick up a bottle right now. If you’ve had Rain vodka before, you should probably go buy another bottle. Bring it to a party. For the price, you can afford to let your friends drink it with you.

I have heard a lot about this vodka. Almost a cult buzz about it. I have been drinking vodka for almost 40 years. I have tried many, many vodkas. I bought Rain yesterday and ran a “Pepsi” challenge today with Tito’s, all three people were able to pick out the vodka that wasn’t Tito’s. Then I asked, well which is better? Everyone picked Tito’s. All three people commented that for a vodka that was distilled seven times, something was added to Rain. Two people suggested sugar, one person suggested sugar and maybe glycerin. It definitely had a “flavor”. Everyone agreed that vodka should be a very neutral spirit. Ultra distilled products should be the most neutral. Less distilled varieties may show some iron or minerality based on its water source..

This is a pretty smooth vodka, as mentioned. But the main thing about this vodka that is AMAZING, is the fact that it’s virtually impossible to get a hangover when you drink this stuff. It’s 7 times distilled and completely organic. A lot of people don’t realize how much of a difference this makes. There’s virtually no impurities, and as such, you won’t have that horrible hangover feeling with this. Highly recommended.

I’ve been going back and forth a lot between whiskey, gin and vodka!
Many times thought vodka was “boring”.

After buying the Rain vodka and now Drinking it over ice with a splash of lemon – there’s no going back!
Literally can get this bottle in Texas for less than ANY other even slightly comparable liquor!

I’ve bought this for as little as $12 at times – holy cow!!

Amazing. Very little hangover – bye beers than makes me bloated (heavy drinker)…..

Astounded, it’s really THAT good! I used to only be able to shoot Belvedere or perhaps he ey goose, but now that Rain came along – forget about it, I’ll save $10 a bottle 😉

I wanted to like this vodka. Organic. Distilled seven times. I could not get past the smell which at first I thought smelled nice and floral, but then it was too much. It has a distinct taste. If I want a flavored vodka I would like to choose one. No where near as smooth as Stoli or Three Olives for that matter.

What I enjoyed about this bottle is how versatile the product is. While it is a great shooter and sipper, its also a great mixer. Ciroc for me is only a good mixer, with the shot coming across very bitter and not very enjoyable. While the white corn in the Rain comes across as warming and smooth however when mixed it adds a bit of it’s sweetness to whatever it is added to.

Unfortunately in the vodka market, the way to make money is how well a product can be mixed because let’s face it, most people don’t pour vodka into a glass and drink it room temp like we do! But they combined best of both words, a great sipping/martini vodka and a great mixing vodka.

I’ve been drinking Rain Vodka for some time now. The bottle is what attracted me at first, then when I asked an Alcohol beverage cashier at an ABC store about it, he said it has a great taste to it, it’s smooth, and inexpensive, all in which were even more attractive to me.
I use to drink Stoli regularly, along with Chopin Vodka (which was also a recommendation) I find Chopin to be a great Vodka, also very smooth, but the cost kind of put it on the back burner, maybe I’ll purchase it for special occasions or if it is on sale. I admit for now Rain Vodka has my vote hands down.
BTW: I drink it on ice, with fresh lime, one of the smoothest Vodka’s ever…

I have to say this is by far the best vodka out there. I have tried them all and this is the smoothest, best tasting vodka with no hangovers. My husband would only drink Stolj or Grey Goose until he tried Rain….now Rain is the only vodka he will drink. Thank you for a great vodka!

I have to agree. I’m a fan of this brand. In fact I took the standard Rain vodka, and made dirty martinis with it. Simply great. The cucumber and lime version goes amazingly well in a bloody mary. Right amount of veggie/citrus hit that cuts through the thickness of the spicy v8 I use in my bloody mary’s. Perfect combo, for a seriously good price point.

I’m a Martini (Vodka) drinker genetically and by choice. I recently tried Rain and also poured one for “Ma Lady”. Her comment: “Wow that’s good”. I couldn’t have said it better. Smooth no bite. Rain is my new Vodka of choice, and I have tipped a few.

We try many of the craft vodkas as they all have a distinct flavor. Rain is the top of our preferred vodkas as it has a clean yet sweet taste and makes great dry martinis and is great on the rocks. I would recommend it to any one. We like many of the domestic craft vodkas as well as some of the European and Eastern European brands but find that Rain is our preferred brand at this time.

The bottle attracted me but the taste and “aftermath” sold me! I’ve told coworkers and friends about this RAIN. I’ve always been a whiskey drinker but was looking for something with less sugar and I’ve found my “gem”.

Vodka is the only hard liquor I drink and was a big Grey Goose fan. I never heard of Rain before, let alone an organic vodka, and tried it because it was featured at a liquor store that was part of an insert in my local newspaper. The packaging is gorgeous and the taste is great, whether just on ice or mixed. Bye bye Grey Goose hello Rain.

This stuff is like a truth serum…seriously, so smooth it was easy to over imbibe, which I did. Mixed with grapefruit juice, it was wonderful, but left my friend and I with very little memory of the night’s events. Let me put it this way, another friend emailed me and wanted to know where we got that organic vodka, because he wanted to make his wife a drink. Good times, lol!

My friend bought me a bottle of Rain for my birthday! At first I enjoyed it, as it has a nice taste but later my stomach started feeling a little funny. A week later I poured a shot mix with punch, and Again my stomach start hurting me. I drink on the regular, just to feel a buzz. Rain gave me a buzz but made me sick! When I told my boyfriend, he said it made him feel the same way. And that is why he never drank anymore of it. I’ve had many types of vodka and never felt this way before! Regretfully, I give Rain Vodka 100 thumbs down!
